7:36 AM, Jan 20, 2012 • By DANIEL HALPERMitt Romney's campaign just announced the endorsement of Virginia governor Bob McDonnell. “As I have said throughout this primary process, we need a governor to serve as our next president,” McDonnell said in a prepared statement mailed out by the campaign.
“America needs leadership and that's what governors do: they lead. Governors actually have to find solutions and bring all parties together in order to get results for their citizens – they can't just sit back and cast votes. Mitt Romney has been an effective leader his entire life, in business, the Olympics and as governor. President Obama’s lack of leadership experience is now clear – he has failed to turn around the economy and end the gridlock in Washington. Mitt Romney used his leadership ability in a politically difficult environment to balance the budget every year, cut spending and taxes, and create jobs. He is a results-oriented conservative. This is the type of record that conservatives like me are honored to support – we need a leader like Mitt Romney in the White House to enact effective change that will put our country back on the right path and Americans back to work.”
Romney and Ron Paul are the only Republican presidential candidates who will be on the Virginia primary ballot.

The new governor of Virginia aimed to save $40,000 from his transition budget, but managed to save the taxpayers $80,000 through a system of scrimping that taxpayers will no doubt appreciate during these tough times:
The grungy office space, used supplies and limited freshening of the official gubernatorial quarters paid off...

The governor is adamantly opposed to that trial taking place in Virginia. He has been unequivocal in his opposition to any trials of Guantanamo Bay detainees taking place in the Commonwealth. He will continue to make his strong opposition clear, and will work with Virginia’s congressional delegation to prevent any Guantanamo Bay detainees from setting foot in Virginia.
It increasingly looks like the best idea is to try KSM et al. in a military tribunal at Guantanamo Bay.
