The weakest response to Mitt Romney's foreign policy address, which he delivered earlier today at the Virginia Military Institute, comes from Virginia-based trade publication Politico.

The latest national poll to be released today finds Barack Obama barely beating Mitt Romney, 50 percent to 47 percent, respectively. The poll was conducted by CNN/ORC and measures likely voters.

The CNN poll was conducted between September 28 and 30. The sample includes 783 interviews and has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

The good news for the Romney campaign is that it shows a positive trajectory for the Republican candidate. 

Over at National Review Online, Ramesh Ponnuru highlights a CNN story entitled, “Voters sick and tired of health care debate.”  Ponnuru notes that the story offers essentially no evidence to support the claim made in its headline.  It’s also worth noting that the CNN story cherry picks one question from CNN’s latest health care poll, in the process painting a false picture of Obamacare’s popularity.

Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts refused to tell CNN's Dana Bash that she's a minority, despite the fact that the Democratic Senate candidate was once listed as a Native American at Harvard, where she is a law professor. The Free Beacon has CNN's video:

The early draft of the exit polls this morning showed a 50-50 tie in the Wisconsin recall race. It's still early, but the best bet is that Scott Walker meets or exceeds his margins relative to 2010, which points to a 5-point win or better. This suggests that the early draft of the exit polls were biased toward the Democrats.

Mitt Romney will not participate in the Republican presidential primary debate on March 1 in Georgia.

An Insider Advantage poll taken in South Carolina on Wednesday — two days after the most recent Republican presidential debate — shows that Newt Gingrich has erased a double-digit deficit to take the lead over Mitt Romney.  Gingrich now has 32 percent support, up 11 percentage points from his tally in the previous Insider Advantage poll, which was taken on Sunday.

On the eve of the Iowa caucuses, Newt Gingrich lowered the boom on Mitt Romney in an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan. Gingrich criticized his GOP rival as a "Massachusetts moderate" while touting himself as a "Southern conservative." Asked if he ought to be responding more aggressively to attacks from Romney and the other Republican candidates, Gingrich said he would need to fight back, as some aides have reportedly been urging him to do.

The latest polls from CNN/Time show that Mitt Romney is leading or tied for the lead in all four of the first states to vote in the Republican primary next year.

If tonight's Republican debate did one thing, it exposed the weaknesses of the entire Republican field. Texas Gov. Rick Perry received the brunt of the attacks tonight, and had an uneven performance overall. No huge gaffes, but he continued to raise questions about his command of details, and faced his toughest criticism yet from the right on immigration and the HPV vaccine.
