Snow

The federal government in the Washington, D.C. area is closed today. Here's the announcement, by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management:

So far, in Arlington, Virginia, there's hardly a trace of snow. But the local NBC affiliate insists it's coming later today. 

"Snow began falling in the region around midnight, and we can expect four to eight inches in the D.C. metro area before the season's first true snowstorm is over," reports NBC.

"The snow is expected to affect both the morning and afternoon rush hours Wednesday. Slush and wet snow were starting to pile up on some area roads shortly before dawn, and elevated ramps are getting slippery.

"However, it will still take some time for road temperatures to drop enough for snow to begin to stick on most roadways.

"The brunt of the storm is expected Wednesday morning into the afternoon when northeasterly winds of up to 40 mph kick in."
