Barack Obama is attending a memorial service for the victims of a massive fertilizer plant in West, Texas. But the president didn't visit the damage from the ground; instead, he opted only for a flyover.
"On the way to Waco, the president's helicopter passed over the site of the fertilizer plant, circling it a few times to view the flattened structures and scarred earth where the explosions occurred. The choppers landed on the soccer field of Baylor University and the motorcade drove a few hundred yards to the arena where the memorial is being held. The president is on a stage. Several caskets draped with American flags are lined up in front of that stage," the pool reporter writes.
Baylor is over 15 miles from the site of last week's deadly blast.
