Democrats and their partisans in the mainstream media have been fully occupied these past few days with demonizing conservatives for their successful stand against tax increases in the debt ceiling compromise. To Thomas Friedman, the Tea Party is the “Hezbollah faction” of the Republican party. Maureen Dowd wrote a “column” about the Tea Party holding people ransom in a horror movie where the president will “need a bigger boat.” Even our normally thoughtful and taciturn vice president joined in, agreeing with Rep. Mike Doyle's assertion that “We have negotiated with terrorists.

The Department of Justice has filed charges against five terrorists who are currently being held at Gitmo. This means, as Shepard Smith reports, that KSM and four other terrorists "will likely face trial before a U.S. military commission at Guantanamo Bay."

Inside the Gitmo Task Force's Final Report

President Obama's own task force concluded that 95 percent of the Gitmo detainees had at least some connection to the terror network.

On January 22, President Obama’s Guantanamo Review Task Force completed its final report, which outlined the administration’s plan for the remaining detainees held at Guantanamo. The Task Force was set up as part of the president’s effort to close Gitmo.

THE WEEKLY STANDARD has obtained a copy of the report, as well as Attorney General Eric Holder’s transmittal memorandum. As explained below, the Task Force concluded that 95 percent of the detainees held at Gitmo, as of January 2009, had at least some noteworthy connection to the terrorist network.
