Yesterday, when the president was asked whether Americans are better off now than they were four years ago, he responded: "Well, you know, I think that we are better off now than we would have been if I hadn't taken all the steps that we took."
Speaker of the House John Boehner was asked today whether he agrees with the president's assessment. "Are you kidding me?" Boehner exclaimed. "Why don't you go ask the 14 million Americans who are out of work, whether they're better of today than they were four years ago."
Interestingly, Boehner's answer is reminiscent of the answer Obama provided a month ago. "Well I don’t think they are better off than they were four years ago," Obama told a reporter on October 3.
