When President Obama, and (before that) candidate Obama, was on top, they loved him. All the tinsel talents, that is, who judge people by their ratings. Now, as Jonathan Easley and Elise Viebeck of The Hill write:
... not even the president’s most fervent and committed supporters want to get too close to ObamaCare. Some of Obama’s most powerful allies — figures including Oprah Winfrey, Bruce Springsteen and Beyoncé — have stayed in the wings for the enrollment push.
It is not an utter rout, however:
… the only noteworthy celebrities appearing on behalf of ObamaCare in national ads are retired NBA players Magic Johnson and Alonzo Mourning, who left professional basketball in 1991 and 2009, respectively.
Maybe athletes believe in comebacks, having had more experience with them.
One wonders when some Hollywood phenom will see Obama in a room and ask, Hey, didn’t he used to be …?
