President Obama made another joke in a speech to newspaper editors about his hot mic moment last week with his Russian counterpart. "It is a pleasure to speak to all of you, and to have a microphone that I can see," Obama said. "Feel free to transmit any of this to Vladimir if you see him."
Last week, Obama told his Russian counterpart that he need more "space" because he'd have "more flexibility" to work with Russia after he wins reelection in November.
Obama's first joke on this came when he was explaining his overheard remarks to reporters. He said, "First of all, are the mics on?" He then went on to argue that his promises to Russia were nothing new--even if Americans who later heard the remarks were alarmed at what the president might have been offering the Russians.
