Gov. Tim Pawlenty signed a bill Thursday that makes it legal for beverages to be brewed in the basement of a building.
Early laws prohibited people from brewing in a basement because of concerns about the moisture and mildew often found there.
This applies to brewing everything from drink syrups and carbonated drinks to bottled beer.
There are worse pitches in the 2012 presidential climate than, "I'm the guy who lifted a silly state regulatory barrier to brewing your own beer."
