A new poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University finds that New Jersey governor Chris Christie has a 54 percent job approval rating in his state, with 36 percent disapproving. These numbers are better for Christie than when the pollster last asked the question in May of this year. Then, only 44 percent approved of his job performance, while an equal percentage disapproved.
In terms of personal approval, 49 percent of New Jerseyans have a very favorable or somewhat favorable opinion of Christie, while 41 percent have either a vary unfavorable or somewhat unfavorable view of him.
While Christie has continued to deny he will run for president in 2012, and while his brother insists that he's not running for president, the New Jersey Republican will be giving a highly anticipated speech tonight at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California.
