Earlier today, Mitt Romney's campaign announced raising a cumulative $101.3 million in the month July. Now, Barack Obama's campaign announces: "In July, 761,000 people donated to raise over $75 million for this campaign."
In other words, in the month of July, the Romney campaign outraised the Obama campaign by $26.3 million.
Last month, however, the margin between the two campaigns was slightly lower than the month before. In June, Romney raised $106 million, while Obama raised $71 million. The difference then was $35 million.
Obama has made it clear that he believes he will be outraised by his Republican opponent.
"I will be the first president in modern history to be outspent in his re-election campaign, if things continue as they have so far," Obama wrote in a fundraising email. "I'm not just talking about the super PACs and anonymous outside groups -- I'm talking about the Romney campaign itself. Those outside groups just add even more to the underlying problem."
