Republican senator Scott Brown of Massachusetts has just released his first television ad of the cycle. At the center of the ad is a quotation from CBS News correspondent Lesley Stahl, who reports on Brown's perceived independence in his two years in the Senate. Brown, who won a special election in 2010 to fill the remainder of the late Democrat Ted Kennedy's term, is facing Democratic challenger and Harvard law professor Elizabeth Warren in November. Warren has been dogged in recent weeks by her unsubstantiated claims that she is descended from Native Americans.
