The Wausau Daily Herald reports that Wisconsin governor Scott Walker endorsed the Senate's immigration bill during an editorial meeting with the newspaper:
Walker said he is in favor of the Senate immigration bill but called it a backward “Band-Aid” approach, saying elected leaders should make it easier for people to enter the country and become legal citizens in the first place.
But Walker's press secretary Tom Evenson tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD that Walker has not endorsed the Senate bill. "Governor Walker has not endorsed any specific policy," Evenson wrote in an email. "Here is a link to the video of the interview."
In the clip of Walker's discussion of immigration, he endorses a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants but does not specifically endorse the Senate bill. Asked if Walker would take a position at some point on the Senate bill, the governor's press secretary did not reply.
