Ever wondered what happens when an unstoppable force meets an unmovable object? When matter meets anti-matter? The wait is over. Rep. Alan Grayson, Democrat of Florida, and Rep. Michele Bachmann, Republican of Minnesota, went toe-to-toe on Larry King Live last night. It's a wonder the universe didn't explode:
Huffington Post has the full video. A few reactions:
(1) Bachmann must read The Blog!
(2) Grayson must have taken a chill pill before the interview. He was remarkably calm and on message.
(3) Whoever you think won the debate, what's striking is the remarkable range of views in American political discourse. Those who say the differences between Republicans and Democrats are small have never listened to Bachmann and Grayson! There is far more debate, free speech, and creativity in American politics than most other systems -- indeed, in most other democracies. Voters here have real choices. Who needs elite consensus when politics is this much fun?
