House Democrats Go After Limbaugh

Michelle Malkin summarizes the faux outrage from the left over Rush Limbaugh's comments about phony soldiers:

Here is what this phony fiasco is really all about: It’s about the MoveOn.org Democrats trying to save face in the aftermath of the disastrous “General Betray Us” smear. They want their own moment of righteous (or rather, lefteous) indignation, their own empty proof that they really, really, really do support the troops. They want to shift attention away from MoveOn.org, its bully tactics, and its thug brethren at Media Matters. They are making a pathetic attempt to equate the “Betray Us” attack--which was deliberately timed for publication and maximum p.r. damage to our military command when the world was watching our top general in Iraq testifying in Congress--with a radio talk show host’s ruminations about anti-war soldiers who have faked their military records/history.

Bottom-of-the-barrel desperation.

It's hard to see the left as defenders of the honor of our military, considering how rarely they come to the defense of our men and women in uniform. Case in point, the member of Congress who has slandered the U.S. Marines and refuses to apologize. But instead of running into a lefty buzzsaw of indignation, they regard him as a hero.

Malkin also provides the text of the resolution that Congressman Udall (D-CO) apparently intends to introduce to criticize Limbaugh for his comments.

While House Democrats would love to play 'tit-for-tat,' it's probably not a political winner to bring this resolution to the floor. House Republicans are likely to call them hypocrites for not addressing the comments of Congressman Murtha, and for passing legislation to crack down on the serious problem of phony soldiers, only then to censure a talk show host who brought it up. Further, it's guaranteed to improve Limbaugh's ratings and raise more money for Republicans--as the MoveOn debate did.

Also check out Hot Air, where Bryan addresses the attempt by liberals to get Rush Limbaugh dropped from Armed Forces radio. Bryan makes a valid point: what do our men and women in the Armed Services think about Limbaugh's comments? This is one area where their opinion should be guiding.
