Daily Blog Buzz: Is Kucinich Joking?

Late last week, right-wing bloggers were in an uproar (and laughing) about Kooky Congressman Kucinich's forthcoming proposal to impeach Vice President Cheney. Michelle Malkin has the scoop on Kucinich's announcement from last Friday: "The momentum is building for impeachment...Millions of citizens across the nation are demanding Congress rein in the Vice President’s abuse of power."

Millions? Really?

Malkin also lists the 21 Democrats who support the resolution--surprisingly Speaker Pelosi is not included.

Yesterday, Politico's Crypt blog reported:

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) plans to take to the floor of the House Tuesday and introduce a privileged resolution to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney. The privilege approach allows him to circumvent Democratic leadership, which opposes voting on the measure.

His resolution will be met with a motion to table it. A vote against the motion will be a vote in favor of impeaching Cheney...

Today is Kucinich's day! Malkin will be following the "circus" all day, and also has the text of the resolution containing Cheney's (ludicrous) "high crimes and misdemeanors." A day-long circus, as Malkin predicts, will bring days of blog fodder!

Jules Crittenden quips, "Unfortunately, it’s just Kucinich, and I don’t think they’re paying any more attention to him in the house than they are anywhere else." He also asks, "But where’s Pelosi, Murtha? This is a job for the leadership. Seeing as they have been unable to accomplish anything else, it’s only right that they should be the ones to unaccomplish this."

The Influence Peddler, a.k.a. Brian Faughnan, explains the House rules regarding a privileged resolution such as Kucinich's, and notes that Pelosi will inevitably have to get involved: "Speaker Pelosi will likely have to decide whether to deny the Netroots their fondest desire, or whether to allow an impeachment debate. If she rules against him, Mr. Kucinich could appeal her ruling, and potentially all Members of the House to go on record in favor of, or in opposition to, beginning the debate over impeachment."

More from Faughnan here.

Of course, the resolution will only go to the floor, as Little Green Footballs notes, if "he isn't abducted by aliens first."
