Bloomberg or Giuliani in 2010?

With the news that Eliot Spitzer is preparing to discuss his involvement in a prostitution ring, it's worth taking a look at how he's been doing in the eyes of New York voters. It's a good news/bad news situation for Eliot. The good news: His ratings are unlikely to suffer much. The bad: It's because they've been falling like a stone for a while now. According to Siena's monthly poll:

New York is home to two former Republican Mayors of New York City who might consider a gubernatorial bid in 2010. Despite the state's strong blue tinge, either Mike Bloomberg or Rudy Giuliani should be regarded as serious contenders in a match against Spitzer. The wild card however, is whether Spitzer will be too wounded to seek re-election. In that case, the state's senior Senator has long been seen as a potential presidential aspirant who expects to make a stop in Albany.
