McCain Struggling Among Little Jerks

A student at Episcopal High School, where McCain made a campaign stop today, was apparently displeased that her busy academic schedule was interrupted by McCain's visit, attendance at which was compulsory. McCain joked that he should have "cut this thing off" sooner, and apologized if the student was "unwillingly in attendance here." (What kind of nerd would rather be in class than snoozing through an assembly?) Think Progress notes:

McCain doesn't seem to know how to handle his youngest critics. Earlier in the campaign, a student chastised him for his refusal to support gay marriage. McCain called another student asking about the senator's age "a little jerk," adding, "You're drafted."

Perhaps McCain is in imminent danger of losing that key under-18 constituency of little jerks.
