John McCain certainly isn’t the best looking of the remaining presidential candidates, but I wouldn’t have expected the blogosphere’s most prominent lefty to make a big issue of the disparity. I was of course wrong. The following critique of a picture of McCain that appears on his campaign website is sadistic in a classic juvenile fashion. Take it away, Markos Moulitsas:

It's pretty bad when your hair is whiter than your teeth… I mean, they have teeth whitening products today. Just ask Chuck Norris. There's also photoshop. No one at Camp McCain thinks this is relevant or worth fixing? Take away the highlights from his teeth, and they are literally this color...and seriously, that's just gross.

My goodness. Now I know how Hillary Clinton’s female supporters felt when her appearance was being criticized. Like Senator McCain, I too suffer from less than perfectly colored teeth, although my tetracycline stains lack the valorous history of Senator McCain’s marred grin. As Kos undoubtedly knows, McCain’s teeth are less than perfect and resistant to even the finest whitening products because of what happened to him at the Hanoi Hilton.

Gotta hand it to Markos. Making fun of a veteran’s battle scars sounds like a surefire electoral winner to me.
