Some In Washington

Above is the new Vets for Freedom ad, urging members of both parties to finish the job in Iraq, regardless of who becomes president. The sober sense of responsibility of the young veterans in the spot contrasts starkly with the windy hyperbole of Joe Biden. Biden, as you probably recall, engaged in a Trutherism level of denial yesterday when he insisted that there are no bad guys in Iraq.

It’s not exactly a secret in Washington that Biden’s mouth has a (poorly functioning) mind of its own. Let’s hope the possible Obama administration secretary of state hasn’t so detached himself from reality that if he ever becomes more than just a particularly loquacious albeit non-facetious senator, he’ll be able to recognize simple facts and discharge his responsibilities with a modicum of responsibility.

I know – unlikely. But hope I must. I guess this whole Hope/Change gestalt is really getting to me.
