If You Contributed to the Obama Campaign, You Should Demand a Refund

Showing the same sort of rapid response that He displayed during the 14 month Jeremiah Wright “problem,” Barack Obama and His campaign have belatedly issued a rejoinder to the McCain campaign’s almost two week old “Celebrity” ad. I think you’ll agree it’s a stroke of genius. The Obama campaign, done whining momentarily, has responded to McCain’s charge that Obama is a celebrity by countercharging that McCain is – get ready for it – a celebrity. Brilliant!

I’m sure at Obama HQ they’re saluting themselves for this inspired piece of I-know-you-are-but-what-am-I counter-programming, but they still miss the point. Yes, it’s true that both Obama and McCain are very famous individuals. So therefore, it follows that Obama is not the only celebrity in this race. But the reason the McCain “Celebrity” ad has achieved traction is because of the observation that Obama’s political celebrity isn’t commensurate with either His talents or accomplishments. With McCain, that’s a tougher case to make. Indeed, it’s a foolish case to make.

There are many negative things one could say about John McCain. Hell, I’ve said a bunch of them myself. But to say he’s undeservingly famous is fatuous and pathetic even by Obama campaign standards.
