Check out Glenn Loury's devastating takedown of Barack Obama's statement last Saturday that he wouldn't have nominated Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court because Thomas "was as strong enough jurist or legal thinker at the time for that elevation."


"He raises this issue of competency in a way that make shim look like 'I'm the only black man on earth marginally qualified by conventional life experiences for a high office to which I aspire ...

And guess what? I can criticize other African Americans who have similarly been admitted into the inner councils of american government as being not as smart as me, who couldn't have made the law professor faculty at the University of Chicago.'

I think it's a disaster."

For someone who doesn't understand Roe v. Wade and thinks that Nazis tried Nuremberg had habeas corpus rights, Obama was indeed treading on some very thin ice when he insulted a brilliant Supreme Court justice's intelligence.
