In the last two days, three polls of Virginia voters have been released. Two polls of registered voters showed McCain up big: Christopher Newport University reported McCain was up by 9 points; The National Journal showed McCain ahead by 7 points.
But a Public Policy Polling survey conducted among likely voters showed Obama up by 2 points. Does that mean the polls may be off, one way or the other? Or does the registered voter/likely voter divide show a surprisingly large enthusiasm gap in Virginia? Whatever the case, McCain holds lead of 2.4 points in the Real Clear Politics average of polls for Virginia.
As for national polls, McCain's post-convention bounce appears to be gone; the RCP average shows Obama leading by 2 points.
