New Vets for Freedom Ad: Obama v. Petraeus on the Surge

Vets for Freedom is dropping $400,000 on this ad contrasting Obama's statements denying the success of the surge with Gen. Petraeus's remarks:

The resolution (S. 636) that the ad urges Obama to support is sponsored by Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman. Graham, Lieberman, and other proponents of the surge are trying to bring the resolution up for a vote this week, but Democrats Carl Levin and Jack Reed are offering a competing resolution. Among other differences, the Levin-Reed resolution recognizes the surge as a tactical rather than a strategic success and declares that Afghanistan rather than Iraq is the central battlefield in the war on terror.

As I type, Mary Katharine Ham is covering a Vets for Freedom press conference on Capitol Hill; she'll have the latest developments on this later in the day.
