Arkansas Shooter Had Other Miltary Targets in Sights

Which ideologically motivated shooter is this? It's the one that Obama has yet to make a statement on. The one whose victim was a 23-year-old man, just out of basic training who had never seen combat. The one who shot two American soldiers in cold blood "because of what they had done to Muslims in the past."

But some ideological motivations are more relevant than others, you see:

Why the silence? Politically and religiously motivated violence, it seems, is only worth lamenting when it demonizes opponents. Which also helps explain why the phrase "lone shooter" is ubiquitous in media coverage of jihadi shooters gone wild -- think convicted "Jeep Jihadist" Mohammed Taheri-Azar at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill or Israel-bashing gunman Naveed Haq, who targeted a Seattle Jewish charity or Los Angeles International Airport shooter Hesham Hedayet, who opened fire at the El Al Israeli airline ticket counter -- but not in cases involving rare acts of anti-abortion violence.

The Arkansas shooter, a convert to Islam who had been flagged by the FBI since being arrested in Yemen, told investigators, "he would have killed more soldiers had they been in the parking lot."

Fox is reporting that search of his apartment turned up more weapons and a search of his computer turned up more targets and indications of a wider conspiracy:

A senior U.S. official tells FOX News that more targets were found on the computer of a man charged in the fatal shooting at a military recruiting center in Arkansas - suggesting the accused gunman may have been part of a larger plot to attack military targets and may not have been acting alone.

This video is very hard to watch, but if you can, this is Pvt. William Long's father talking about his son's death. One would think Obama could offer some words of acknowledgment or comfort to the Long family. Perhaps during the announcement of the new Army Secretary would have been appropriate, but nothing. It's really unconscionable.
