It isn't often that the before, during, and after images of a suicide attack are caught an camera. Al Jazeera inadvertently did just that yesterday when it captured a Shabaab suicide attack in the Somali capital of Mogadishu. The target was several Somali ministers attending a graduation ceremony for a group of medical students. Shabaab, which is al Qaeda's affiliate in Somalia, succeeded in killing three ministers, but in the process, killed nine medical students and a doctor.

The video is startling; one minute the students, dressed in graduation garb, are listening to a speaker, and the next, students are lying on the ground, dead or wounded, writhing in pain with deadly injuries. The video brilliantly captures al Qaeda's war against civilization. Al Qaeda's war is not just against the West, but against Muslims with the temerity to strive for a better life.

Warning: the video below is graphic in nature.
