White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer writes, "POLITICO reported that, before it even becomes law, opponents of health care reform - including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich - are already talking about repealing it. Certainly there is a fundamental disagreement here, since many opponents of reform - again including Gingrich - appear to think that insurance companies can do no wrong....At a time when insurance companies are finally about to be reigned in, and when American families are finally about to be given control over their own health care, opponents of reform are advocating that insurance companies once again be allowed to run wild."

Since Obamacare would be so hard on insurance companies, it's amazing that those same insurance companies are supporting its passage!

Perhaps it's more true, as MoveOn.org asserts, that the proposed legislation would be "a massive giveaway to the insurance companies." And perhaps the Congressional Budget Office is right that, in its real first dozen years, Obamacare would funnel $1.0 trillion from American taxpayers, through the federal government, to insurers. And, of course, Obamacare would also make it illegal for Americans not to buy the insurers' product.

Only in Obamaland could this be characterized as "American families...finally [being] given control over their own health care." The best way to truly give American families such control? Defeat Obamacare -- whether now, or through the elections of 2010 and 2012.
