THE WEEKLY STANDARD has reviewed a private poll taken one day last week. Caveats up front: it was conducted only one day, between Christmas and New Year. It showed Coakley (Dem)-Brown (Rep) ballot test is at 50-39- Coakley fav/unfav is 61-32, Brown is 56-26-virtually identical (+29, +30)--that's a potentially very competitive race. Gov Deval Patrick (with whom Coakley serves as AG, so maybe could link them) is 38-60 fav/unfav TWS has been told that an earlier poll, done by another firm for another client, had similar results-but also found the race tightened significantly among those most likely to vote like Ogonowski TEXT |
