We learn more about the vagaries of Obamacare every day.  People who thought they were somehow okay are discovering that they are getting it in the neck and wondering how this could be.  One tends to feel sympathy.  But in some cases, not so much.  As for instance, the situation described by Jonathan Allen & Jennifer Haberkorn of Politico:

Veteran House Democratic aides are sick over the insurance prices they’ll pay under Obamacare, and they’re scrambling to find a cure.

“In a shock to the system, the older staff in my office (folks over 59) have now found out their personal health insurance costs (even with the government contribution) have gone up 3-4 times what they were paying before,” Minh Ta, chief of staff to Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.), wrote to fellow Democratic chiefs of staff in an email …

They must have thought themselves members in good standing of the Beltway Nomenklatura and immune to the inconvenience of having to live by rules they crafted for the benefit of the peasantry beyond the Potomac.  Equals, at the very least, of the people who do governmental stoop labor who, of course, are walled off from the vicissitudes of Obamacare as Kellie Lunney of Government Executive write:

OPM [Office of Personnel Management] has taken pains to reassure FEHBP [Federal Employees Health Benefits Program] participants that they can retain their health insurance and that the 2010 Affordable Care Act’s insurance marketplace will not affect FEHBP. But the guidance bears repeating, especially now. FEHBP exceeds the minimum coverage required by the law, and federal employees and retirees can keep their FEHBP coverage if they are happy with it. This is a relief to many feds and retirees given the botched rollout of healthcare.gov and the problems people have had signing up for health care.

So, government workers are spared the pain and inconvenience of government incompetence.  That ought to sell out in the heartland.
